10th HK Geopark logo

Hong Kong Geopark became a NationalGeopark of China in 2009 and a member of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) in2011. In 2015, following the formalisation of the Geopark Programme by UNESCO,Hong Kong Geopark was renamed Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark. To mark the 10th anniversary of HK Geopark’s accession to theGGN, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) willorganise a series of celebration activities and introduce new visitorfacilities between July and December 2021.

Hong Kong Geopark’s first 10th anniversary video is out now! The video series titled Hong Kong has a UNESCO Global Geopark features dialogues with Kelvin Yuen, renowned landscape photographer, and Cindy Choi, Chairman of the Association for Geoconservation, Hong Kong, who share their feelings about Hong Kong Geopark. This is the first release in a 10-part series with different themes for each episode. The other nine videos will be out between July and December. We hope they will give you a better picture of our geopark.

Upcoming event: Geopark Thematic Roving Exhibition
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department will organize a geopark thematic roving exhibition in a number of shopping malls from July to September.The first show will be held in the Domain Mall, Yau Tong. The exhibition will last for four days from 24 to 27 July. The exhibition features a number of interactive games, as well as exquisite postcards and special souvenir stamps.
